About The Position

The Phlebotomist role is essential for providing an exceptional and cohesive patient experience. This position involves offering a personalized welcome and greeting to each patient, guiding them through the phlebotomy process, and ensuring a positive encounter. The Phlebotomist will effectively utilize technology tools for phlebotomy services and ensure that patients' blood is collected and immunizations are administered with ease.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Phlebotomy certification required.
  • Experience applying clinical parameters and criteria in a decision making model.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

  • High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative
  • Experience in primary care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and nurses with patient care and treatment in accordance with national standards.
  • Provide phlebotomy services and collection of other laboratory specimens (including but not limited to urine, stool, and breath).
  • Performs specimen collection in any exam room or clinical area as needed to support daily primary care visits.
  • Processes and prepares all laboratory specimens for same day testing in accordance with clinic protocols and quality standards.
  • Processing outside lab orders when appropriate criteria are met
  • Process in-house specimens as ordered by physicians and provide/document results in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies to assure the clinic has necessary and appropriate items on hand.
  • Communicate supply needs to Senior Medical Assistant.
  • Perform and document quality control testing on all in-house laboratory testing supplies and instruments as outlined by clinic policy.
  • Establish collaborative relationships and work directly with outside vendors to reconcile issues related to in-house or send out testing.
  • Communicate and work with patients as needed to follow up on any lab related issues or concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
