About The Position

This role involves cleaning, disinfecting, and performing various housekeeping tasks within a hospital setting. Responsibilities include vacuuming, spot-cleaning carpets, washing walls, cleaning patient rooms and bathrooms, and maintaining office areas. The position also entails project work such as stripping and refinishing floors, removing infectious waste according to protocol, disposing of regular trash, moving furniture, and setting up rooms for meetings. The role requires the ability to use a variety of chemicals for cleaning and to perform discharge cleaning as needed.

Requirements

Some High School required.
0-1 years related work experience required.
Basic familiarity with computers.
Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
Ability to make decisions based on specific instructions, standard practices, and established procedures with little or no supervision.
Ability to address routine and somewhat repetitive problems by following clear directions and procedures.
Ability to follow general instructions and procedures; work is monitored by supervisor/manager.
Ability to read and write in English to understand basic safety instructions, take direction, communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff, and respond to basic questions.
Ability to understand spoken English to follow basic safety instructions, take direction, and communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families, and staff.
Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures and use them in routine situations.
Ability to interact respectfully with others, offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information, or deliver services.

Competent to provide patient care to Neonatal (Birth to 6 months), Youth (6 months to 16 years), Young adult (16-30 years), Middle Age (30 - 60 years), and Elderly (60+ years) age groups.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
Employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

Responsibilities

Cleans floors, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, shelves, dispensers, trash receptacles, beds, mattresses, stretchers, tables, chairs, desks, carpets, windows, mirrors, sinks, toilets, urinals, counters, doors, elevators and tracks, stairs, window tracks and ledges, vents and baseboards using a variety of chemicals.
Removes and disposes of all trash, waste, and litter.
Refills soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and replaces toilet paper.
Performs discharge cleaning as needed.
Performs special cleaning duties as scheduled or requested, including vacuuming, wall washing, spot cleaning, carpets and upholstery, and removing/installing curtains and drapes.
Removes infectious waste according to protocol.
Moves furniture and sets up rooms for meetings.
Performs project work such as stripping and refinishing floors.
