About The Position

As the People Partner, you will work directly with our talented People Team to lead HR operations, employee relations, employee engagement, and workforce support. The People Partner will serve as a strategic partner to department managers, ensuring our organization operates with technical clarity, consistency, and a deep respect for both our people and our company values. This role reports to Eric Edelson, Fox Marble and Fireclay’s CEO, and is based out of our Richmond, CA facility. Our culture thrives on professional development, technical mastery, and opportunities for growth within the organization. This is a salary position and pays $75,000 - $90,000.

Requirements

  • Compliance-Minded: You have a sharp eye for detail regarding HR systems, employment law, and the nuances of managing a diverse, 100+ person workforce.

  • Operationally Savvy: You are comfortable moving between high-level leadership advisory and the "boots-on-the-ground" reality of daily workplace walkthroughs and engagement.
  • Technology First: You lean into technology solutions and have experience in tools like Rippling, Workday, or other strong HRIS systems. You are able to transform data into actionable business insights with a deep love for project management and AI like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. We run on Google, Rippling, and Asana.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • You have a passion for craftsmanship and an eye for detail, whether working with natural stone, engineered surfaces, or artisan tile.
  • You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to uphold the "Excellence from the Ground Up" standard that Fox Marble and Fireclay are known for.

Responsibilities

  • Drive HR Operational Excellence: Lead the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from managing sophisticated onboarding/offboarding processes to maintaining meticulous personnel documentation.
  • Champion Labor Compliance: Act as the subject matter expert for California wage and hour laws, overseeing timekeeping accuracy, overtime, meal premium requirements, leave of absence administration
  • Navigate Employee Relations: Provide expert guidance to supervisors on performance management, conduct expectations, and teammate concerns. Lead workplace investigations, ensuring well-documented, consistent, and compliant resolution of issues
  • Foster Workforce Engagement: Maintain a consistent, visible presence across all operational areas to build trust, remain accessible, and support employees across all departments. Partner with leadership to strengthen engagement and promote a high-performance culture
  • Advise Leadership: Partner with executive leadership to interpret policy, support operational decision-making, and reinforce core values like Ganas, Kindness, and Sustainability.
  • Serving as a Brand Ambassador, representing our shared legacy of excellence and our core values including: Kindness ○ Honesty ○ Tread Lightly on the Earth ○ Measure Twice, Cut Once ○ Ganas (Desire)
