About The Position

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs. We have proven technology, growing momentum, and a significant opportunity ahead. We are looking for a People Operations Intern to join our People team for the summer, from June 14th to August 20th, 2027, at our headquarters in Torrance, CA. This role is in a fast-moving, dynamic startup environment that requires adaptability. The intern will support day-to-day operations and contribute to broader People programs, focusing on process improvement, training, employee records, payroll support, compliance paperwork, company retreat planning, and engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Clear communicator — both written and verbal
  • A systems mindset: you naturally look at ways to simplify, automate and improve processes
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with G Suite and quick to learn new tools
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and care
  • A genuine interest in People Operations and how organizations work
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic setting

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, Sociology or a related field, with the ability to start a full time role in September 2027.
  • Experience with HR systems - we use Rippling, Greenhouse and CultureAmp
  • Exposure to startups or small team environments
  • Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting day-to-day operations of the People team and contributing to broader People programs
  • Coordinating and executing process improvement efforts to streamline workflows, such as organizing shared files and team resources so information is accurate and easy to find
  • Developing training content and managing course assignments and completion tracking in EasyLlama
  • Auditing employee records and internal systems for missing, outdated, or inconsistent data, and correcting issues so our records stay clean and reliable
  • Supporting payroll by tracking employee changes, auditing timecards for wage and hour compliance, and coordinating timely manager approvals
  • Preparing compliance paperwork for review, including state disability and family leave forms, wage garnishment orders, and employment verifications, and tracking deadlines through resolution
  • Executing planning and logistics for the company retreat, from vendor coordination and travel to agenda and attendee communications
  • Helping run company engagement efforts, such as scheduling and organizing new-hire lunches with our co-founders and maintaining our employee recognition program
  • Pitching in wherever needed
