About The Position

The People & Culture (Human Resources) Manager plays a crucial role in managing various HR functions within the hotel environment. This includes overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, payroll administration, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. The manager is responsible for fostering a positive company culture, supporting leadership with employee relations, and administering benefits. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and organizational skills, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • 3 years of Human Resources leadership experience.
  • Hotel/lodging environment experience highly preferred.
  • Four-year degree in a related field.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Successful completion of a satisfactory background check.
  • Demonstrates natural leadership qualities with a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with property leadership, employees, corporate leadership, and HR peers.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and as a team leader.
  • Able to present with an uplifting personality, high degree of confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency communicating in Spanish is a plus.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including posting job advertisements, pre-screening candidates, and conducting reference checks.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all necessary documentation, background checks, and system setups are completed.
  • Administer the company's training and learning platform (Typsy), ensuring employee access, engagement, and development of training paths.
  • Assist the Director of People and Culture with payroll processing, including time card review, auditing job codes and rates, and filing payroll documentation.
  • Conduct quarterly access audits for payroll systems and maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Handle incoming documents related to garnishments, child support, and wage verifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State Labor Laws and maintain digital and manual records according to retention laws.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, including anti-harassment training, and track completion.
  • Act as a culture champion, conveying company ethos and motivating team members.
  • Provide daily support to managers on employee relations, retention, labor cost savings, and HR policies.
  • Assist in difficult employee conversations and terminations.
  • Develop People & Culture Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and standardized practices.
  • Encourage employee engagement survey participation and assist in developing action plans based on results.
  • Plan and execute employee relations events, such as Employee Appreciation Week and holiday festivities.
  • Educate team members on benefit and perk eligibility and provide resources for benefit selection.
  • Process unemployment claims and attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including Emergency Evacuation, Accident Reporting, and zero-tolerance policies.
  • Communicate with managers and staff in a positive and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate shared accountability and willingness to assist other departments as needed.
  • Motivate and lead the team to accomplish tasks effectively.
