About The Position

The People + Culture Generalist serves as a trusted partner to leaders and team members by supporting the daily execution of People + Culture initiatives across multiple hotel operations. This entry-level exempt role is designed for an emerging HR professional ready to transition from coordination to ownership of core HR functions. The Generalist will lead and enhance hourly onboarding, training, compliance, benefits administration, and team member engagement while serving as a mentor and resource to the People + Culture Coordinators. This position also partners closely with the Area Director of People + Culture to support salaried onboarding, compensation analysis, policy administration, and strategic people initiatives that strengthen the overall team member experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field required.
  • Minimum three years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within hospitality.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Senior People + Culture Coordinator or similar HR role preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the onboarding experience for all hourly team members, ensuring a welcoming, engaging, and compliant orientation process.
  • Coordinate and facilitate salaried leadership onboarding in partnership with the Area Director of People + Culture.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve onboarding materials, checklists, and training resources.
  • Oversee the onboarding process executed by People + Culture Coordinators, providing coaching, guidance, and quality assurance.
  • Assist with leadership development initiatives, compliance training, and professional development programs.
  • Monitor onboarding metrics and recommend improvements to increase retention and engagement.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day resource for People + Culture Coordinators.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to ensure consistent execution of People + Culture processes.
  • Assist with scheduling, workload prioritization, and process improvements within the department.
  • Promote consistency and best practices across multiple hotel operations.
  • Serve as a primary resource for team member benefit questions.
  • Coordinate new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment activities.
  • Audit benefit eligibility and enrollment records to ensure accuracy.
  • Partner with payroll and benefit vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Educate team members on available benefit offerings and wellness resources.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and HRIS records.
  • Support I-9 compliance, E-Verify, personnel audits, and required documentation.
  • Monitor completion of required compliance training and certifications.
  • Assist with unemployment claims, employment verifications, and HR reporting.
  • Support policy implementation and communicate process updates to leaders.
  • Conduct wage analyses for promotions, transfers, market adjustments, and new hire offers.
  • Prepare compensation recommendations for review by the Area Director of People + Culture.
  • Assist with annual merit increases, market reviews, and compensation benchmarking.
  • Track turnover, vacancies, onboarding completion, and other workforce metrics.
  • Prepare reports that support strategic workforce planning and business decisions.
  • Coordinate recognition programs, appreciation events, wellness initiatives, and engagement activities.
  • Assist with planning employee celebrations, volunteer events, and culture-building experiences.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback for trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support engagement surveys and action planning with department leaders.
  • Serve as an approachable resource for team members seeking guidance on policies, benefits, and workplace concerns.
  • Support investigations, corrective action documentation, and conflict resolution under the direction of the Area Director of People + Culture.
  • Coach supervisors on basic employee relations matters and company policies.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Assist with recruiting for salaried and difficult-to-fill positions as needed.
  • Partner with hiring managers to coordinate interviews and hiring logistics.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from candidate acceptance through onboarding.
