About The Position

The People & Culture Generalist is an operationally focused role responsible for the day-to-day execution and administration of key People & Culture functions, with particular accountability for compliance, health & benefits administration, immigration/work permit tracking, Dayforce data integrity, and coverage of core People & Culture activities. While this role provides hands-on support across all areas of the People & Culture function, the generalist primarily assists, supports, and executes under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director, People & Culture. It is well suited to an HR professional looking to deepen their experience in a complex, high-volume hospitality environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Human Resources, ideally in a Generalist or Coordinator role
  • Demonstrated experience with HR administration
  • Experience with benefits administration, WCB, disability management, or immigration is a strong asset
  • Experience in a unionized and/or hospitality environment preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Dayforce preferred)
  • University degree or College diploma in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, or a related field an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, or Health & Safety management.
  • Knowledge of applicable employment legislation including Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health & Safety, and Privacy Act.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to driving continuous improvement and employee satisfaction.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain day-to-day compliance related to work permits and immigration documentation, Temporary Foreign Worker Program tracking, and visa expiry monitoring, implied status tracking, and extensions.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance trackers, reports, and audit files.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation, records, and reporting are accurate and up to date.
  • Proactively flag risks, upcoming expiries, or gaps in documentation to leadership.
  • Support recurring and one-time compliance initiatives (e.g. BPOW, Inclusion & Workplace Charter commitments).
  • Administer and track WCB claims and related documentation, incident reporting and return-to-work documentation, and short-term disability tracking and follow-up.
  • Support benefits administration, including enrolments, status changes, and leaves of absence, and liaison with benefit providers as required.
  • Maintain accurate health and benefits records in line with privacy requirements.
  • Support health & benefits reporting and audit requirements.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of employee data in Dayforce, including new hires, rehires, transfers, and terminations, position and compensation changes, work assignments and access changes, and policy acknowledgements and tracking.
  • Action Employee Action Forms (EAFs) and ensure timely system updates.
  • Support payroll-adjacent processes by ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Act as a first point of support for Dayforce-related questions and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare letters of employment, ID cards and name badges.
  • Assist with orientation preparation and documentation.
  • Handle general inquiries and appointments.
  • Maintain physical and electronic employee files in accordance with confidentiality and retention requirements.
  • Assist in other areas of the People and Culture Department as required.
