About The Position

The People & Culture Generalist supports the Director of Human Resources in the day-to-day execution of HR administration, talent acquisition coordination, and workforce staffing across all Snake Oil Cocktail Company venues and events. This role is responsible for maintaining HR systems and records with accuracy and consistency, ensuring employees receive timely and professional support, and that all event staffing needs are met with qualified, compliant, and well-prepared team members. The ideal candidate is highly organized, people-first in approach, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting both the HR function and the people it serves. The People & Culture Generalist represents Human Resources to the broader team and reflects the company's commitment to building a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive human resources experience in hospitality, events, or high velocity service environments.
  • Expertise in California employment law and regulatory enforcement.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently
  • Proven track record of building team morale and compliant systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver license and ability to pass DMV review if required
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Proof of authorization will be required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Human Resources with full-cycle onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, system setup, orientation coordination, and separation documentation
  • Coordinate completion of required employment-related forms, including W-4, DE 4, I-9, and related onboarding documents
  • Maintain accurate and complete employee records in Paylocity; ensure all profile data, documentation, and compensation details are current
  • Maintain the HR reporting dashboard and ensure data integrity across all HR platforms including Paylocity, BreezyHR, and NOWSTA
  • Process and maintain HR conduct reports, employee relations documentation, and incident write-ups under the direction of the Director of Human Resources
  • Manage the BreezyHR applicant tracking system, including posting positions, managing candidate pipelines, sending canned communications, and coordinating interview scheduling
  • Serve as day-to-day point of contact with external recruiting partners, to ensure candidate flow, communication timelines, and pipeline status are actively managed
  • Represent the company at recruiting and marketing events alongside or on behalf of the Director of Human Resources
  • Support benefits administration by responding to basic employee inquiries, distributing enrollment materials, and escalating complex questions to the Director of Human Resources or applicable carriers
  • Support workers’ compensation administrative processes including intake documentation, reporting coordination, and follow-up under Director oversight
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking compliance certifications across the workforce, including Food Handler Cards, ABC RBS certification, and harassment prevention training; flag gaps to the Director of Human Resources
  • Assist with handbook updates, policy documentation, and distribution of revised materials to employees
  • Coordinate logistics for employee recognition, engagement initiatives, and internal culture programming as directed
  • Draft HR-related communications, memos, and employee-facing materials in alignment with SOCC brand and HR standards
  • Use NOWSTA staffing software to responsibly staff all offsite and onsite events in accordance with event requirements, labor budgets, and operational standards
  • Make necessary phone calls, texts, and emails to staff to confirm availability, communicate scheduling updates, and resolve conflicts
  • Monitor staffing hotline for communications at all times and respond when reasonable
  • Advise leadership on staffing capacity, skill mix, and workforce readiness for upcoming events
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team and Vice President of Operations to solve any urgent staffing needs, event needs, or situations as they arise
  • Review staffing plans with the operations team to ensure adequate staffing levels across all scheduled events
  • Facilitate daily time card management for event staff on NOWSTA; monitor and communicate with staff about break times and missed clock-ins/out
  • Reconcile incongruencies between scheduled versus worked hours; investigate and resolve discrepancies to protect labor cost accuracy
  • Relay scheduling and hour inconsistencies to the applicable sales representative to ensure proper adjustments occur when invoicing clients
  • Provide pre-shift huddles on large, complex, or VIP events for field staff
  • Provide onsite feedback and coaching to staff as needed
  • Execute general write-ups for catering staff regarding typical incidents; submit to Director of Human Resources for review prior to delivery
  • Document any staff incidents for management
