About The Position

SpryPoint is modernizing how utilities serve their communities. As a high-growth software company, we're shaking up the status quo in the utility industry with the first and only truly cloud-native customer service and operations platform purpose-built for modern utilities. Founded by industry veterans in 2011, we've grown from a profitable startup to a rapidly scaling company of 300+ employees serving 100+ utility clients across North America and the Caribbean. Our mission is simple: utility leaders should expect more from their technology providers. Utilities face urgent demand to replace inefficient legacy systems while managing increasing operational complexity, and evolving customer expectations. With more than a decade of experience, and a track record of successful implementations spanning water, electric, and gas utilities, SpryPoint has built a reputation as a trusted and mission-critical partner to utilities across North America. We deliver comprehensive solutions including SpryCIS, SpryEngage, SpryMobile, and SpryWallet that modernize the entire meter-to-cash process. What sets us apart? Our "updates, not upgrades" approach, user-centric design, and unwavering focus on customer success. Backed by strategic investment from Norwest Venture Partners since 2023, and an exciting new investment partnership from Insight Partners announced in 2026, we're accelerating our growth while staying true to our core values: lead with kindness, vision with impact, radical honesty, bold disruption, keep it simple, and execute with excellence. Join our award-winning team in transforming an essential industry that powers communities across the Americas. 🌱 The Role SpryPoint is growing, and with that growth comes an exciting opportunity to shape what a great HR partnership looks like at a company that genuinely cares about its people. We are looking for a driven and knowledgeable People Business Partner to support and advise managers and employees across assigned business units. This is a role where you will do meaningful work from day one β€” balancing hands-on HR delivery with increasingly strategic partnership, and serving as a credible, trusted advisor to mid-level and senior leaders across the organization. What makes this opportunity particularly special is the moment we are in. As SpryPoint establishes its presence in Atlanta, this role will be our first HR seat on the ground. One day a week, you will be in our new Atlanta office β€” and that in-person presence matters. You will be the human face of HR for the people who work there: visible, accessible, and genuinely connected to the energy of the team. Building those relationships in person and being the person people actually know and trust is a meaningful part of what will make you successful here. If you are someone who thrives on variety, values connection, and wants to grow into a more senior strategic HR role at a company that is scaling fast, we would love to hear from you!

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with progressive HR experience and/or HRBP background.
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven track record of independently owning and resolving complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, challenge, and influence people leaders β€” moving them from transactional management to strategic people leadership.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust, create psychological safety, and navigate sensitive situations with discretion.
  • A bias for action, accountability, and impact β€” you bring recommendations, not just questions, and you follow through.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify patterns, interpret nuance, and translate data into proactive, people-centred solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and lead through ambiguity in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and people management systems (e.g., BambooHR, Workday, Lattice) and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.

  • Develop a deep understanding of business unit goals, challenges, and operating context to proactively align HR strategy with operational needs.
  • Leverage HR analytics, dashboards, and AI‑enabled tools to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across workforce, engagement, performance, and retention.
  • Own and lead performance management processes within client groups, advising managers on best practices for feedback, documentation, development planning, and accountability.
  • Partner with leaders to set meaningful performance goals and provide expert guidance on performance improvement strategies.
  • Coach and advise managers through difficult conversations, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary processes β€” escalating high-risk situations with well-developed recommendations.
  • Own and resolve a broad range of employee relations matters across both Canada and the U.S., applying sound judgment and deep expertise in employment law across both jurisdictions.
  • Lead workplace investigations independently, ensuring outcomes are handled with empathy, confidentiality, rigour, and timeliness.
  • Manage leaves of absence (e.g., parental, disability) end-to-end, ensuring a smooth employee experience and full compliance with relevant legislation across Canada and the U.S.
  • Collaborating with managers and employees to identify internal growth opportunities by developing career pathing frameworks, facilitating career conversations, and supporting transitions such as lateral moves, promotions, or team changes.
  • Manage the execution and continuous improvement of HR programs within client groups, including engagement surveys, performance cycles, and learning and development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of HR processes and policies in collaboration with the People Operations team, bringing a client-group lens to enterprise solutions.
  • Partner with business leaders on change management efforts during organizational transitions, restructures, and strategic shifts β€” advising leaders on approach, communication, and people impact.
