UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. UNICEF is a place where careers are built, offering diverse opportunities for professional and personal development. The Staff Support Unit (SSU) was established by the Division of People and Culture (DPC) to serve as a central resource for staff during the HQ – NY and Geneva - transition, as part of the HQ Efficiency Initiative (HQEI) and related staff support strategy. SSU’s mandate was expanded to include UNICEF’s Future Focus Initiative (FFI), which aimed to reposition the organization to meet the needs of the most vulnerable children in a rapidly changing world. The SSU acts as a referral service and advisory unit to staff globally affected by these initiatives, ensuring that support and information is people-centered and consistent across divisions. The unit delivers a range of services and events, including policy and career guidance and advice on mitigation procedures, through internal resources and external providers as needed.
