People and Culture Business Partner

About The Position

Hapana is expanding into new markets, launching new products, and onboarding new brands, and is seeking individuals to grow with the company. This role presents a timely opportunity to join a growing organization. Hapana provides the technology platform for fitness brands, managing memberships, bookings, marketing, and payments. The company operates with 110 employees across Australia, USA, UK, Brazil, Singapore, and India, serving studios and members globally. This position offers the chance to contribute directly to the product, client businesses, and the team.

Requirements

  • 4–6+ years of experience in People & Culture / HR, with significant experience in both People Operations and HR Business Partnering.
  • Strong working knowledge of USA employment law and HR best practices, with ideally experience supporting employees across multiple states.
  • Confidence in independently managing employee relations, performance management, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), investigations, and other sensitive or complex People matters.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior leaders and managers, with the ability to coach, influence, and respectfully challenge when necessary.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance the needs of employees with the needs of the business.
  • Experience building, improving, and scaling People processes in a growing organization, preferably within SaaS, technology, or another fast-paced sector.
  • Ability to think strategically while being comfortable with hands-on execution.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to build trust through clarity, thoughtfulness, and consistency.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and follow through on commitments.
  • Confidence working with HR systems such as BambooHR or similar, alongside People data and modern workplace tools.
  • A relevant qualification in HR, Business, or a related field is valued, but practical experience and demonstrated capabilities are equally important.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting distributed or global teams, particularly across the USA, Brazil, and UK.
  • Experience with TriNet and payroll administration.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary People & Culture partner for the USA, Brazil, and UK teams, fostering trusted relationships with leaders and employees, and offering practical, commercially focused People advice.
  • Collaborate with the Director of People & Culture and leadership in the USA, Brazil, and UK to drive performance, organizational priorities, employee development, engagement, and team effectiveness.
  • Coach and support managers in handling complex People matters, including performance issues, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), difficult conversations, employee relations, investigations, and organizational changes.
  • Oversee the employee lifecycle for the USA, Brazil, and UK, encompassing onboarding, development, employment changes, and offboarding, working with the People & Culture Generalist to ensure a consistent and seamless employee experience.
  • Lead employee relations matters across the USA, Brazil, and UK with confidence and sound judgment, ensuring thorough documentation, consistent processes, and appropriate escalation to external employment advisors when specialized guidance is needed.
  • Manage performance review cycles and assist managers in translating performance conversations into clear expectations, actionable steps, and meaningful development plans.
  • Maintain compliant and scalable People practices across the USA, Brazil, and UK, staying updated on relevant employment requirements and ensuring policies, processes, and documentation adapt to business growth.
  • Develop and continuously enhance People processes, playbooks, and frameworks to provide managers with clarity, improve the employee experience, and minimize unnecessary complexity.
  • Utilize People data, employee feedback, and business insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities early, translating them into practical actions.
  • Champion the employee experience through benefits, well-being, recognition, engagement, and initiatives that embody Hapana’s culture and values.
  • Partner with hiring managers and the broader People team on recruitment as needed, contributing to attracting talent and delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational design, and capability planning as the USA, Brazil, and UK teams scale.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on projects and initiatives where People, workplace, and business operations intersect.
  • Own and promote the USA Health, Dental, and Vision benefits, ensuring employees understand and maximize their benefits, while supporting effective administration and ongoing improvement of the offerings.
