About The Position

Provides health and benefits insurance underwriting, technical, and sales support services for the Paychex Professional Employer Organization (PEO). The role reviews prospective business evaluations, supports the PEO health insurance sales submission and quotation process, evaluates client risk and exposure, and makes selection or rejection decisions for prospective PEO health insurance clients. It works with PEO Sales, insurance carriers, and clients to meet underwriting and eligibility requirements, negotiate competitive quotation terms, resolve routine requests, and provide product and industry expertise to Paychex Agency Sales.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in underwriting, selling, or marketing health and benefits insurance.
• Relevant insurance license required; must be eligible for applicable insurance licensing in all 50 states.
• If not currently licensed, obtain the required insurance license(s) within 90 calendar days of the official start date and maintain eligibility throughout employment.
• If hired with active, current licenses, update and verify any applicable license information or changes before the start date.

Responsibilities

• Review new-business prospect evaluations completed and forwarded by the Underwriting Specialist.
• Facilitate the sales submission and quotation process for PEO health insurance sales initiatives.
• Assess risk and exposure to individual client health insurance claims within the PEO Group Health Insurance program and decide whether to select or reject prospective clients.
• Work with PEO Sales organizations to ensure compliance with insurance carrier underwriting and group eligibility requirements.
• Negotiate individual cases with insurance carrier underwriters to secure comprehensive and competitive quotation terms, conditions, and pricing.
• Act as a liaison among PEO sales and service organizations, carriers, and clients to resolve routine questions and carrier information requests.
• Provide product and industry technical support and expertise, serving as a resource for Paychex Agency Sales.
