Requirements

Previous experience with beef cattle; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Possession of a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of equipment to be operated.
English language fluency, verbal and written.
Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

Brands, vaccinates, treats, and otherwise processes incoming cattle.
Checks feedlot pens on foot and/or horseback; identifies and removes sick cattle from pens.
Administers medicines, vaccines, and drugs to cattle in accordance with Beef Quality Assurance program guidelines.
Monitors quality and quantity of feedlot water supply.
Builds, repairs, and maintains feedlot facilities.
Operates and maintains vehicles and agricultural and construction machinery and equipment in accordance with verbal instructions and those provided in operator's manuals.
Assists with cattle feeding as required.
May be required to keep records and prepare reports regarding cattle, supplies, and machinery maintenance.
