About The Position

This position's purpose is to perform duties and tasks for the pellet process, and to help assist the Operator, Assistant Shift Supervisor, and Shift Supervisor as assigned. The role involves weighing, cutting, and packaging product efficiently and with accuracy, labeling product for storage and shipment, and keeping track of product by lot number, bale number, and weight. The laborer will execute assigned operations and packaging in a timely manner, confer with supervision to assess progress and discuss changes, and continuously look for ways to improve process efficiency, notifying their supervisor of observations and recommendations. They will meet with supervisors and team members to assess progress and discuss changes, work in conjunction with Lean Manufacturing Principles, and maintain a sanitary and safe work environment, following all safety requirements. This role may involve active participation in the company's Safety Committee and ensuring adherence to company safety policies and federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations. A complete understanding of company policies, the Employee Handbook, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP, and cGMP pertaining to their department is required to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The laborer will examine documents, materials, and products, monitor work processes for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards, and follow all SOPs in their assigned area. All other duties as assigned by management are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, preferred but not required
  • Excellent mathematical, communication and computer skills
  • Be strongly detail oriented and be able to easily multi-task
  • Should be able to independently initiate, prioritize, and perform or solve work problems and ultimately achieve work objectives and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with co-workers, supervisor and management
  • Written skills are necessary to properly fill out paperwork
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member
  • Must be willing and able to work shift work, days or nights
  • Follow written (Standard Operating Procedures -SOP’s, company memos & emails) and verbal Instructions
  • Possess a strong work ethic to positively contribute to the company’s mission, vision, values and environmental policy and quality policy
  • Must have a positive attitude, support co-workers to obtain desired objectives, and assist others in their contributions
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time and access stairs and ladders
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat occasionally to frequently
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (in required areas) for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift (up to 50 lbs.), carry (up to 44 lbs.) occasionally to frequently within normal limits
  • Ability to adapt to changing paces and processes quickly
  • Attentive to the task and own surroundings

Nice To Haves

  • Six months related experience with demonstrated aptitude to learn on-the-job
  • Familiarity with plant equipment operation and SOPs
  • May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee
  • Preferably able to speak English but not required

Responsibilities

  • Weigh, cut and package product efficiently and with the utmost accuracy

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $17.63 - $18.28 Hourly
