About The Position

The Graduate Student Employee - Peer Writing Tutor works in the Writing and Communication Program and assists staff in the assigned department. The role focuses on administrative, learning, or specialized support while providing educational and career growth opportunities. The employee is expected to support the University's values and provide helpful, professional service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. The position is part-time and hourly. The employee must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at EMU and hold a bachelor's degree. The role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Be currently enrolled as a graduate student at EMU.
Hold a bachelor's degree.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Make entry-level decisions.
Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
Be willing to ask questions.
Understand basic department procedures.
Maintain professionalism during working hours.
Have a genuine desire to help peers succeed.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
Answer incoming phone calls.
Perform a variety of administrative and/or office duties.
Assist faculty and/or staff with special projects as assigned.
Perform general administrative responsibilities in support of the department, office, or campus.
Complete department-specific projects as assigned.
Attend the workplace regularly as scheduled, arrive punctually, and follow a work schedule to meet worksite demands.
Support the values of the University.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
