About The Position
As a tutor, you will support your peers in achieving their learning goals while learning and growing as a professional. This role offers the opportunity to enhance communication skills, increase understanding of subject matter, better understand the learning process, and gain mentorship skills. Tutors enjoy flexible hours (4-12 per week) in a convenient on-campus work location and earn a starting wage of $12.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Completed at least one semester at UWSP with at least two semesters remaining
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of course material as evidenced by a 3.0 GPA or above and/or a faculty recommendation letter.
- Available to tutor for at least two semesters
- Willing to work with peers in a collaborative, inclusive learning environment
- Enjoy helping others learn
- Be prepared to submit a writing sample along with this application (for writing tutoring positions)
Responsibilities
- Provide tutoring and support in one of our service areas
- Assist learners in the development of effective study skills and test-taking strategies
- Learn and continually apply TLC and tutoring program procedures
- Regularly check staff email and communicate with other staff members
- Attend required orientations, meetings, and training sessions
