About The Position

One Love Agency is hiring a full-time Peer Support Specialist (PSS) for our Pocatello office, starting immediately. The core of this role is to offer support and guidance to individuals based on shared lived experience, conveying hope and a path forward. One Love Agency has been serving families for over fifteen years across six offices in Idaho and Utah, specializing in supporting adults in crisis, children and families, and individuals recovering from addiction. The agency operates under the principle of 'hānai,' meaning to take in and raise as one's own, fostering a family-like environment for both clients and staff. The team functions collaboratively, with every member, including peer support specialists, case managers, therapists, and administrative staff, playing a crucial role in client care. The agency prioritizes clients, compliance in documentation, and strong community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Active Idaho Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification through BPA Health, or Family Support Partner (FSP) certification.
  • Certification must be current at hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Lived experience: personal experience of mental illness and/or substance use and recovery (for PSS), or experience raising a child with mental illness and navigating child-serving systems (for FSP).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Solid personal footing in own recovery and self-awareness regarding sharing personal stories.
  • Ability to pass an Idaho Department of Health and Welfare criminal history background check.
  • Clear of any state or federal exclusion list (OIG LEIE / SAM).
  • Valid Idaho driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
  • Willingness to maintain certification, including 10 continuing education hours annually (at least one hour of ethics).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in paid or volunteer peer support, recovery coaching, or facilitating recovery groups.
  • Familiarity with the local Pocatello valley, including recovery meetings and resources.
  • Strong ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Proficiency in documentation.
  • Comfort working with both adults and youth.
  • Bilingual or multilingual ability.

Responsibilities

  • Walk alongside adults and youth, sharing personal recovery experiences where appropriate.
  • Model that recovery is real and achievable.
  • Help individuals build hope, self-advocacy skills, and practical stability.
  • Provide one-on-one peer support in the office and community.
  • Assist individuals in setting and achieving their own recovery goals.
  • Connect individuals to natural supports, recovery communities, and resources.
  • Accompany individuals to appointments.
  • Serve as a steady voice of encouragement.
  • Work as part of the treatment team under licensed clinicians.
  • Report to the Pocatello Director.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation tied to client plans, suitable for Medicaid or IBHP review.
