About The Position

One Love Agency is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist (PSS) for their Pocatello office. This role is for individuals with lived experience in recovery who wish to support others in their own recovery journeys. The agency emphasizes a 'hānai' approach, treating clients and staff like family, and operates with a village mentality where every team member is crucial. They focus on clients, compliance with documentation, and community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Active Idaho Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification through BPA Health, or Family Support Partner (FSP) certification if applicable. Certification must be current at hire and maintained.
  • Lived experience: personal experience of mental illness and/or substance use and recovery (for PSS), or experience raising a child with mental illness and navigating child-serving systems (for FSP).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Solid personal footing in own recovery and self-awareness regarding sharing personal story.
  • Ability to pass an Idaho Department of Health and Welfare criminal history background check and be cleared before direct client contact.
  • Clear of any state or federal exclusion list (OIG LEIE / SAM).
  • Valid Idaho driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
  • Willingness to keep certification current, including 10 continuing education hours annually (at least one hour of ethics).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous paid or volunteer experience in peer support, recovery coaching, or facilitating recovery groups.
  • Familiarity with the Pocatello valley, including recovery meeting locations and contacts.
  • Ability to hold boundaries effectively while maintaining close relationships.
  • Proficiency in documentation, ensuring it is timely and tied to the client's plan.
  • Comfort working with both adults and youth.
  • Bilingual or multilingual ability.

Responsibilities

  • Walk alongside adults and youth, sharing personal recovery experiences to model that recovery is real.
  • Help individuals build hope, self-advocacy, and practical skills for their recovery.
  • Provide one-on-one peer support in the office and community.
  • Assist clients in setting and achieving their own recovery goals.
  • Connect individuals with natural supports, recovery communities, and resources.
  • Accompany clients to appointments.
  • Serve as a steady voice for individuals considering their recovery path.
  • Work as part of the treatment team under licensed clinicians.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation tied to client plans, suitable for Medicaid or IBHP review.
