About The Position

CMHA-CEI is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide enhanced support for individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders. This role involves direct interventions with consumers in crisis and requires adherence to CMHA-CEI's mission, policies, and procedures. The position offers shift incentives for overnight and weekend work.

Requirements

• Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required.
• A minimum of one (1) years’ experience interacting with persons with emotional impairments required.
• Must have experienced a significant disruption in their lives from the onset of a severe mental illness, have received public mental health services currently or in the past for the mental and are now in recovery.
• Must be able to operate a computer and have the ability to gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI’s computer systems, including Smart Care and Microsoft Word.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provides an enhanced level of support for persons with mental illness and substance use disorders.
• Performs a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers who are in crisis.
• Carries out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Benefits

• Shift Incentive: + $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm – 12am
• + $2/hour for hours worked 12am – 8am
• + $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm – Monday 8am
