About The Position

Catholic Charities is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Support Specialist to make a difference in the lives of clients. This role specifically seeks Ohio Certified Peer Supporters with lived experience of substance use disorder to provide ongoing support to individuals with Substance Use Disorder. Peer Supporters will be involved in the innovative First Step emergency department program in Summit County, utilizing a strength-based and person-centered approach to recovery, adapting support and programs to each individual's needs and meeting them where they are at.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ohio Certified Peer Supporter Certification.
Valid Ohio driver’s license.
Must have own vehicle, insurance and a willingness to transport clients.
Must have excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Use lived experience to connect with clients and work with them to help them identify a pathway to recovery.
Support multiple pathways to recovery.
Work to bridge gaps in crisis stabilization services.
Assist clients with attending appointments and provide support to individuals as they navigate the early stages of recovery.
Assist individuals access other recovery supports, such as transportation programs, pre-treatment and recovery housing, childcare, and employment opportunities.
Provide support and advocacy to individuals involved with the criminal justice system.
Assist with connecting individuals to resources in the community that will help overcome barriers to recovery
