About The Position

Hope Haven is an accredited resource for disability services and advocacy. We offer service programs and support to meet a broad range of needs for children, adults, and families – from physical, mental, and intellectual to residential, vocational, and spiritual. This position provides peer support services, which includes providing emotional support, coaching and training, empowerment and advocacy, to persons with a serious mental illness in their homes and/or community settings.

Requirements

Have or have had a serious mental illness and are living well in recovery.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a GED or high school diploma.
Ability to complete required 40-hour Peer Support Specialist training within six months of hire.
Knowledge and understanding of the "recovery" model of service delivery.
Good written and verbal communication skills and have basic computer skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
Reliable Transportation.
Provide proof of state minimum liability insurance coverage.
Valid Class C driver’s license required, unless driving a vehicle with a capacity of 8 or more, then a Class “D” license will be required and be an insurable driver with our insurance company.

Responsibilities

Provide support to other peers and assist them in reaching and maintaining their personal recovery goals.
Promote self-determination and support peers in maintaining relationships and increasing a higher level of control and satisfaction over their lives.
Promote skills for improving mental and physical wellbeing and increasing resiliency.
Assist individuals with identifying and utilizing natural supports and community-based resources to reach and maintain their recovery.
Collaborate with individuals to develop and implement their individualized treatment plan and coping/crisis plan.
When applicable, participate in interdisciplinary meetings of individuals on your caseload.
Follow all safety procedures and promote safety measures among the team and peers.
Timely filing of receipts and mileage into online platform.
