About The Position

EMPACT- Suicide Prevention Center, part of the La Frontera family, is seeking a Peer Support Specialist with lived experience in receiving behavioral health services. The role involves helping others navigate the behavioral health system. This is a full-time position located in the City of Maricopa, requiring some evening hours. The Peer Support Specialist acts as a bridge to ongoing services by coordinating and monitoring RBHA/Community-based resources, facilitating service delivery, and acting as a consumer advocate. They assist consumers in the ISP process, crisis intervention, and outreach/engagement, aiming to help individuals voluntarily access services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with adult system of care is required.
  • Must be a recipient or have received services through the community behavioral health system.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to share their experience of receiving behavioral health services.
  • Must have a valid AZ driver's license with no major infractions in the past three years.
  • Must have regular access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in crisis situations, work independently and cooperatively, recognize personal limitations, and relate positively and with empathy to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
  • If driving while on agency time or on agency business, a valid Arizona driver license and appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT - SPC’s liability insurance carrier is required.
  • At time of hire, a 3-year state driving record with no major infractions or excessive driving violations/tickets is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in the related behavioral healthcare field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Peer Support Certification is required within first 90 days of employment.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) Diff per hour available.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a bridge to ongoing services by coordinating and monitoring RBHA/Community based resources.
  • Facilitates delivery of necessary services and support.
  • Acts as a consumer advocate.
  • Assists consumers in the ISP process.
  • Assists in crisis intervention and outreach/engagement.
  • Provides assistance in accessing services to individuals who are voluntary and able to give informed consent.
  • Maintain professional conduct consistent with ethical professional practice and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships with internal and external team members, stakeholders, and community and business partners.
