About The Position

Limbic is seeking an experienced peer support specialist to join their team as an independent contractor (1099). The role involves using lived experience to motivate patients and build trust within an AI-led therapy program. This position requires being a steady, human presence for others, especially when navigating technological challenges. It is a fully virtual position with a flexible schedule within clinic hours (Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00pm EST). Limbic aims to reach underserved patients, including older adults, rural residents, and people from marginalized backgrounds.

Requirements

  • A current and unrestricted peer support certification (e.g., CPS-MH or state equivalent).
  • Personal history of anxiety and/or depression that you can leverage to instill hope.
  • An authentic commitment to meeting every patient with curiosity and respect, ensuring those from marginalized backgrounds feel genuinely seen.
  • A strong interest in supporting adults 65+ with patience and awareness of their unique medical and generational needs.
  • Comfort with digital platforms and a methodical approach to troubleshooting hiccups with patience.
  • Candidates must have regular access to a private computer/laptop and high-speed internet access while conducting sessions.
  • Candidates must have a private space to make calls to patients where they will not be overheard.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Older Adult Peer Specialist (COAPS) or Digital Certified Older Adult Peer Support Specialists (D-COAPS) a plus.
  • Health-tech experience is a plus.
  • Experience leading peer or educational groups is a plus.
  • Experience in mental health coaching a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver peer sessions that normalize challenges, instill hope, and reinforce therapeutic progress.
  • Meet individuals where they are, helping those who feel hesitant find their own internal reasons for engagement.
  • Lead virtual groups focused on wellbeing tools and psycho-education.
  • Follow crisis protocols to assess safety and initiate clinical handoffs to psychotherapists when necessary.
