About The Position

Peer Support Specialists are people in a peer-designated role providing direct services with a personal experience of recovery from mental health, substance use, or trauma conditions who receive specialized training and supervision to guide and support others who are experiencing similar mental health, substance use, or trauma issues toward increased wellness. A Peer Support Specialist is an individual who has made a personal commitment to his or her own recovery, has maintained that recovery over a period of time, has taken the 80-hour Peer Support Learning training (or equivalent) to work in mutuality with others, and is willing to share what he or she has learned about recovery in an inspirational way. Crestwood's Adult Residential Programs serve adults in community-based residential settings. Persons served benefit from extensive life skills training; peer counseling; case management; behavioral self-management; community residential treatment systems; and Crestwood’s Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) program.
