As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, FBH believes in recovery and empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives. The Peer Support Specialist role is crucial in promoting community integration, resiliency, and quality of life by sharing relevant personal experiences to foster hope and reduce stigma. This role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support clients in developing treatment objectives, providing peer counseling, mentoring clients in self-advocacy and system navigation, and facilitating recovery groups. The position also includes engaging with clients prior to discharge from inpatient care, assisting in crisis situations, problem-solving attendance barriers, and preparing clients for graduation from services. Maintaining client records and providing after-hours coverage are also key responsibilities. Travel to see clients in the community and between work sites is required.
