The Peer Support Counselor utilizes their personal experiences with behavioral health issues, treatment, and recovery to encourage and support clients through their own recovery journey. This role involves promoting socialization and self-advocacy, assisting clients in developing natural support systems, and working with them to build and maintain community living skills. Peer Support Counselors will participate in scheduled and routine activities designed to help clients develop the skills and confidence needed to exercise control over their lives. This position is ideal for an individual ready to use their lived experiences to connect with others and requires regular travel. Candidates must have previously been consumers of mental health or substance use treatment services and be stable in recovery for at least one year.
