Peer Specialist

About The Position

The Peer Specialist is an active member of the SI PROS Team and works closely with the program manager. The role models personal recovery and the use of coping skills, serves as a consumer advocate, and provides participants with consumer information and peer support. The Peer Specialist assists participants in regaining independence in the community, learning and practicing new skills, monitoring their progress, using effective coping techniques and self-help strategies, and advocating for effective services. The position also facilitates recovery groups using established curricula, supports participants in areas where they need help, helps maintain a safe and supportive SI PROS community space, and assists with meal services.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in behavioral health services or a mental health setting.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to sit for lengthy periods.
Ability to move or rearrange group-room furniture.
High school diploma.
Valid driver's license in good standing.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and database navigation.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
Peer Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities
