About The Position

NSCS is looking for a Peer Services Manager to join our team! This individual reports to the Director of Recovery, the Peer Services Manager brings personal lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges to provide expert support. They supervise the Hope Center Coordinator and staff, oversee the ACCS Peer Coordinator and peer support specialist, and assist in agency-wide recovery initiatives. This individual serves as a representative at meetings, trainings, and community events, helping promote a recovery-focused approach across throughout the organization and communities NSCS serves.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Has work experience with adults who identify as having a mental health and/or substance use disorder or with individuals with similar human-services needs.
  • Has three years of supervisory experience, preferably in the human services field.
  • This individual should be a current or former recipient of mental health services who is in recovery.
  • Must have completed an accredited Peer Specialist Certification program.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and supervision to the Coordinator of the Hope Center and their staff.
  • The Peer Services Manager is responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of ACCS peer support specialist and peer specialist supervisors.
  • They will participate and make recommendations in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of Peer Support Specialists in non ACCS departments and North Suffolk programs.
  • Effectively advocates for people with mental health and/or substance use disorders and plays a leadership role in helping others understand the need for people to independently make informed choices regarding their own recovery.
  • Provides Leadership in promoting the effectiveness of psychiatric rehabilitation with colleagues and the service delivery system.
  • All other duties as assigned
