About The Position

The Peer Recovery Specialist is responsible for monitoring the safety, security, sobriety, and transportation of Victory Bay’s clients, who are in various levels of treatment for substance abuse. This role involves managing the daily schedule of clients, ensuring their participation in treatment and activities, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-4 years’ experience working in a Drug & Alcohol Treatment Facility.
  • Strong computer skills to meet Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record software requirements.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work ethic and a congenial attitude in the face of a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to function independently and with flexibility.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and interruptions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to read, write, spell in English legibly and without excessive grammatical or communication errors.
  • Ability to talk and hear both by person and by telephone; ability to speak clearly and effectively using proper grammar before patients, employees, and business partners, among others.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Accepts constructive criticism well in an open and non-defensive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and direct the daily schedule of clients, including performing tasks and staying on schedule to attend all treatment and activities.
  • Transport clients to treatment facility, and back to residence in Victory Bay transport vehicle, complying with driving guidelines and GPS monitoring system.
  • Monitor the condition and behavior of all clients for intoxication/drug use.
  • Administer Urine Analysis and breathalyzer on scheduled days of the week and communicate results to medical via email.
  • Promptly relieve previous Peer Recovery Specialist and complete shift change report.
  • Conduct searches of clients at intake and assist in completing intake paperwork.
  • Maintain and control company keys.
  • Monitor clients and direct into group sessions or appointments when needed.
  • Build relationships with each client and model healthy communication as part of the program of Recovery.
  • Complete shift change reports weekly.
  • Manage and defuse conflict between clients impartially and respectfully, reminding clients of rules and consequences, and enforcing punitive measures when necessary.
  • Maintain a collegial but professional demeanor, reflective of healthy sobriety, and appropriate boundaries with each client.
  • Adhere to scheduled client transports and arrive to the facility in a timely manner.
  • Report to and communicate with Direct Supervisor.
  • Assist with facility maintenance.
  • Run Ancillary groups and input group notes into KIPU.
  • Observe and assist with self-administration of medications.
  • Assist and cover other staff when necessary to maintain high productivity and efficiency in the department.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned for the success of the department.
