About The Position

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide peer recovery support services to individuals with primarily substance use disorders, but also mental health, co-occurring, and/or gambling disorders. This position will also respond to opioid-related crises, staff a recovery and wellness center, and support individuals in their path to recovery. The goal is to remove and/or overcome obstacles to recovery by finding resources, guiding, advocating, supporting, and assisting individuals to begin and maintain recovery. These functions will be performed while adhering to the ethical responsibilities of a peer recovery specialist.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
One year of experience providing peer recovery support services.
Must be in a state of recovery for 2 years from a substance use, mental health or co-occurring disorder before being qualified to be hired.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Peer Specialist classifications or Peer Specialist and specialty codes in the health-related field of work for the required experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with criminal justice populations.
An active Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential.
Experience with spreadsheets and data collection.
Possess a current certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 12 months from date of hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB).
Possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

Provide peer recovery support services to individuals with substance use disorders, mental health, co-occurring, and/or gambling disorders.
