RAFT House is a progressive, quality driven psychosocial rehabilitation program that is a part of Hanover County Community Services Board. At RAFT House, we enthusiastically focus on recovery, acceptance, friendship, and teamwork. The program is seeking a compassionate, flexible, organized, and experienced Peer Recovery Specialist. The Peer Specialist will use their lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery to mentor, coach, and support those attending the RAFT House program to set and achieve personal wellness, daily living, community integration, and other goals. RAFT House operates Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. with occasional evening or weekend programming. The preferred candidate will be required to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) within the first year of employment if not currently certified. This is a paraprofessional position. The incumbent works on a team by providing outreach, daily living skills, support, education, transportation and other community support services to individuals served. Peer Recovery Specialists are engaged in a number of areas, including at RAFT House, Assertive Community Treatment, Emergency Services and Outpatient Services. The incumbent's unique contribution is the ability to utilize and share with individuals served his/her personal lived experience and knowledge around substance use disorder recovery and/or mental health recovery, empowering and inspiring individuals served to utilize their personal strengths and preferences in treatment services at the CSB.
