About The Position

Elevate your journey as a Peer Recovery Specialist and make a significant impact by sharing your own recovery story to inspire and support others. In this role, you'll engage in pre, during, and post-treatment engagement, offering vital family support and education. Your dedication will link individuals to recovery communities, navigate barriers, and facilitate empowerment, adhering to Recovery and Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) philosophies. Join us in promoting hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness while advocating for individuals' rights and fostering a continuum of care in the community. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years in recovery or a combination of experience and education totaling 5 years
  • Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) or preference for crisis intervention training
  • Valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability
  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, email, and electronic medical record (EMR) usage

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in linking individuals to recovery communities and ancillary services.
  • Encourage sobriety-based activities.
  • Provide ongoing support throughout their recovery journey.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals with families, courts, and service systems, ensuring access, responsiveness, and protection of personal rights.
  • Coordinate services.
  • Complete necessary documentation.
  • Promote positive interactions within Chestnut and the broader community.
