About The Position

The Peer Recovery Ambassador will conduct community outreach to generate qualified treatment referrals and build relationships with healthcare providers, recovery communities, sober homes, clinicians, and community partners. This role involves representing Aware Recovery Care at various events, educating referral sources about the company's services, and managing a portfolio of relationships within an assigned region. The ambassador will maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities and referral development efforts, communicate professionally and ethically, and coordinate with cross-functional departments to ensure smooth client transitions into care. The position requires a passion for helping individuals struggling with substance use disorders and the ability to work ethically in sensitive environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year (2 years preferred) of continuous personal recovery from any Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or personal experience with addiction in family members or loved ones.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must reside in one of the following states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Indiana, Florida.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a field-based outreach role.
  • Comfortable speaking to mixed audiences including clinicians, hospital staff, families, and people actively seeking recovery.
  • Self-starter with strong motivation and organizational skills.
  • Passionate about helping individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
  • Ability to work ethically and professionally in sensitive environments.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain ethical and professional boundaries in sensitive environments.
  • Knowledge of client-centered communication methods.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with referral partners, treatment facilities, and other members of the general public.
  • Must be able to self-start and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Appreciation and respect for principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to engage with diverse audiences (age, gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, profession, etc.).

  • Active or in-progress peer certification (e.g., CCAR, state Peer Recovery Specialist credential) where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach to generate qualified treatment referrals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, recovery communities, sober homes, clinicians, and community partners.
  • Attend recovery events, meetings, networking opportunities, and community outreach activities to represent Aware Recovery Care.
  • Educate referral sources about Aware Recovery Care, available services, treatment programs, and recovery services offered by the company.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of relationships with referral sources within the assigned region; serve as the primary point of contact for those partners.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activity and referral development efforts for the assigned region.
  • Communicate professionally and ethically with referral partners, clients, families, and the general public.
  • Meet established outreach and referral development goals as assigned by Aware and supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activity and referral development efforts in the CRM within required timeframes.
  • Represent Aware Recovery Care in a professional and recovery-focused manner.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional departments and teams to ensure smooth handoffs from initial community contact to enrollment in care.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
