Provides direct service to clients in their homes, assisting with training in skills of daily living. This role requires lived experience as a consumer of mental health, substance use, and/or homeless services. The Peer Program Specialist will teach skills for maintaining personal hygiene, laundry, and apartment cleaning, as well as budgeting, shopping, meal planning, and preparation. They will also monitor overall apartment maintenance, teach self-preservation skills, monitor living units for safety and cleanliness, and administer the client cooking safety test. The position involves monitoring, documenting, and teaching self-administration of medication, reporting incidents or behavioral changes to the supervisor, teaching travel skills, and escorting clients when needed. The specialist will also facilitate/co-facilitate groups and document services rendered and client progress in a timely manner. Additionally, they will assist in building self-advocacy skills and support recovery skill-building goals to decrease the frequency of contact with emergency services. The role requires attending training and performing other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
