About The Position

This is a grant-funded position for a Peer Mentor to assist students transferring to Northern Arizona University. The role involves supporting students through their transition, acclimation, and sense of belonging, as well as assisting with events and activities organized by the Transfer Center in collaboration with Northern Arizona University for the YES Program. The Peer Mentor will guide students in the transfer process, provide academic guidance, and motivate them to complete the transition to Northern Arizona University. They will also assist YES Ambassadors with workshops on admissions, scholarships, financial literacy, and time management, serving as a point of contact to alleviate anxiety and answer questions. Additionally, the Peer Mentor will connect students to Northern Arizona University services, help improve communication skills, increase awareness of program activities, and support strategic planning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree
  • One year of attendance at NAU-Yuma
  • Two years of experience as a YES Program participant
  • Arizona Driver's License or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Serves Students.

  • Increases awareness of the activities and events, and transfers information.
  • Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives, and performs other duties as assigned.
