About The Position

The After-School Program at FDR High School offers youth participants a wide range of enrichment workshops to promote lifelong skills needed to succeed academically, socially, and professionally. These workshops include, but are not limited to, academic tutoring, college and work readiness, leadership development, guest speaker series, mentoring opportunities, and recreational activities. The After-School Program at FDR High School offers a Part-Time/Seasonal Peer Mentor/Tutor to provide mentorship and tutoring in a variety of subjects to students during program operations.

Requirements

  • Prior tutoring experience, more so with the high school youth population.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for youth development.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, and/or Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide High School students individual and/or in a small group setting homework help assistance and tutoring in the following subject matter (Preferably in STEM/English) Mathematics (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus) Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) English Language Art History
  • Provide academic guidance and mentorship to fellow students as they navigate high school and into adulthood.
  • Assist with the administrative aspects of the CPC programming through data entry, compiling, filing and organizing participant folders.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director.
