About The Position

We are hiring for the following Peer Counselor positions at Providence Crisis Stabilization Center in Anchorage, AK! Currently available schedules: Full time, 1.0 FTE, Day and Evening shift, 40 hours per week. Part time, 0.8 FTE , Day and Evening shift, 32 hours per week. Apply today! The Peer Support Specialist provides flexible, community/program-based peer support services that are designed to promote the recovery, empowerment, and community integration of individuals who have severe behavioral health and/or substance use disorder challenges by facilitating opportunities for individuals receiving service to direct their own recovery and advocacy process, by teaching and supporting the development and utilization of skills needed to facilitate the individual's recovery, promoting the knowledge of available service options and choices and the utilization of natural resources in the community, and helping facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth. Requirements

  • Certified Peer Specialist (upon hire)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in recovery
  • Compliance with all state laws and requirements for driving (if driving is necessary)
  • Proof of driver license and auto insurance (upon request, if driving is necessary)

Responsibilities

  • Provide flexible, community/program-based peer support services designed to promote recovery, empowerment, and community integration of individuals with severe behavioral health and/or substance use disorder challenges.
  • Facilitate opportunities for individuals receiving services to direct their own recovery and advocacy process.
  • Teach and support the development and utilization of skills needed to facilitate individual recovery.
  • Promote knowledge of available service options and choices, and the utilization of natural resources in the community.
  • Help facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth.
