Peer Counselor - Parent Partner (FBH Certified Peer Counselor)
About The Position
CCSWW's Family Behavioral Health is seeking a Parent Partner to join their innovative team. This organization provides family-oriented behavioral health care for children, youth, and families in their homes and communities. The teams offer individualized, creative, and flexible services using evidence-based and evidence-informed strategies to help children and youth remain safely at home with their families, restoring hope, providing intense mental health services, and strengthening family unity. The role is based in Vancouver, WA, and services are provided in community-based settings and family homes, requiring scheduling flexibility.
Requirements
- Personal (lived) experience as a parent of a child who has been or is receiving community/mental health services within the past ten years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Age 21 or older.
- Ability to drive to family homes within the community with reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to visually assess safety within family homes and in the community.
- Availability to flex some work hours.
- Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
- Applicant must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
- Support and uphold the mission, beliefs, and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
Nice To Haves
- Personal history as a parent of a youth/child who has been a recipient of behavioral health, child welfare, complex medical coordination, or juvenile justice services.
- Prepared to disclose personal experiences with youth, parents, and others.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate, provide support, and help facilitate services for youth and their families receiving Family Behavioral Health Services.
- Act as a member of a team to help a parent voice their own perspective and ensure other team members understand and utilize that perspective in treatment planning.
- Help youth, parents, and families achieve confidence in their abilities to team on a recovery journey and maintain hope for their success after formal behavioral health services are completed.
- Actively partner with families, their natural supports, and community services to achieve long-term safety and stability.
- Provide services in community-based settings and family homes.
- Flex work hours to meet the needs of youth and families served.
