About The Position

The UAB Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is inviting applicants for a faculty position within our team. The primary responsibilities will be directed toward advancing research efforts focused on neuro-oncology and immuno-oncology, including but not limited to areas such as brain cancer biology, immuno-oncology, immunotherapy, and computational biology. This position will support ongoing laboratory-based research programs and contribute to the development of innovative approaches to understanding and treating pediatric cancers and blood disorders. The faculty role also includes opportunities for program development and education, including teaching and supervision of trainees and future leaders in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is composed of a multidisciplinary team of faculty, researchers, and clinical staff dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education. The division maintains active research programs and participates in collaborative, translational, and clinical research initiatives. With more than 2 million square feet, Children’s of Alabama ( COA ) is one of the largest pediatric medical facilities in the U.S. COA offers inpatient and outpatient services across its Russell Campus on Birmingham’s historic Southside, with additional outpatient services provided at Children’s South and Children’s on 3rd. Primary care is provided at multiple locations across central Alabama. Children’s of Alabama is the only medical center in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children. It is a not-for-profit medical center and serves as the primary site for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s pediatric medicine, surgery, research, and residency programs.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (MD and/or PhD)
  • Relevant postdoctoral research experience in hematology/oncology or a related field.
  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD

Responsibilities

  • Advancing research efforts focused on neuro-oncology and immuno-oncology, including but not limited to areas such as brain cancer biology, immuno-oncology, immunotherapy, and computational biology.
  • Support ongoing laboratory-based research programs.
