About The Position

The Pediatrician is responsible for the provision of primary care medical services in a Patient Centered Health Home context, with a focus on access to care. This role involves providing comprehensive, continuous, and coordinated care with a focus on the physical, emotional, and social health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth to age 21. The position includes treatment of acute and chronic illness, health promotion and maintenance, and health supervision activities. The Pediatrician will advocate for access to care and a medical home for all children, emphasizing structured evaluation, early intervention, and health promotion. Excellent customer service and care are expected, with consistent courtesy in interactions and awareness of patient wait times. The role also involves patient education, participation in performance improvement efforts, staff education, and FHCN promotion. Adherence to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy is required, and the ability to work at any FHCN location based on business needs is necessary. Other duties as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Possesses specific advanced knowledge and skills, including written and verbal communication skills, computational, computer, and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge.
  • Completion of a Doctoral-level Degree program with a recognized major and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; or Successful attainment and maintenance of a valid, active professional license required for the role, issued by the appropriate governing or regulatory body.
  • Performance of the duties and responsibilities of the job requires the equivalent of extensive formal training in Pediatrics, including an understanding of the application of the theory and practices of the profession to the operations of the organization, usually in the form of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
  • Have a minimum credit score of 650.
  • Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents.
  • Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or link multiple worksheets and workbooks.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions, and other elements.
  • Licensed in the state of California as a Pediatrician.
  • Requires the employee to effectively communicate their professional opinions and extrapolations of information they collect and synthesize/analyze.
  • Employees must determine appropriate methods of communicating information through the use of tables, graphs, charts, and other visual forms.
  • Duties require the preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.
  • Regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movement to type and grasp.
  • Frequently required to stand or walk.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct provision of primary care medical services, meeting all established productivity expectations.
  • Provide examination and review appropriate laboratory, referral, and imaging results to determine a diagnosis.
  • Document visits accurately utilizing appropriate templates, and record relevant data to attain a diagnosis.
  • Attain budgeted visits.
  • Meet clinical care measures.
  • Lock records in the 72-hour window.
  • Provide comprehensive, continuous and coordinated care with focus on the physical, emotional, and social health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth to age 21.
  • Provide comprehensive health care, including treatment of acute and chronic illness, and health promotion and maintenance.
  • Provide health supervision (health promotion and disease prevention activities to enable each child to reach full potential).
  • Provide anticipatory guidance (advice and education for patients and parents regarding appropriate preparation for predictable developmental challenges).
  • Monitor physical and psycho social growth and development with age-appropriate screening.
  • Advocate access to care and a medical home for all children, with focus of structured evaluation, early intervention, and health promotion.
  • Provide excellent customer service and care.
  • Consistently behave with courtesy when interacting with patients/ family members, support staff, and Network staff.
  • Remain aware of wait time during the daily workflow.
  • Provide the patient with educational materials and resources appropriate to the patient’s health literacy needs.
  • Accountable for patient status as measured by relevant clinical quality measures.
  • Promote and participate in daily huddles.
  • Incorporate the participation of ancillary health team members in managing the care of patients/families.
  • Set and monitor self-management plans.
  • Assist in the assurance of clinical procedures and the maintenance of up-to-date clinical protocols.
  • Complete chart and peer review responsibility in a timely manner.
  • Assist the patient care team with performance improvement efforts, staff education, and FHCN promotion.
  • Assist the patient care team with performance evaluations and quality improvement.
  • Assist in the preceptorship of mid-level practitioners.
  • Where relevant participate in rotation of medical, physician assistant students, and dental residents.
  • Participate in Network Health Fairs & other community events.
  • Participate in site & provider meetings in a meaningful way.
  • Meet Network and credentialing expectations for licensure and employment.
  • Adhere to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
