About The Position

Coordinate interfacility transfers by collecting initial demographic and clinical information from referring facilities and facilitating physician-to-physician communication in alignment with established transfer algorithms. Maintain continuous communication with the Patient Command Center, inpatient units, Emergency Department charge personnel, and alternative site leads regarding bed availability, including placing bed reservations in Epic. Request ground and air transportation services for the Transport Team; provide referring facilities with reporting information; transmit required documentation; communicate essential transport details to receiving units; and coordinate bedside updates with transport personnel. Provide clerical and administrative support by entering and maintaining data in Epic, Origami, and other systems; generating reports; maintaining logs; and completing assigned secretarial duties. Monitor Transfer Center equipment and coordinate with the Transport Equipment Specialist for supply and equipment needs. Support safety and quality initiatives by monitoring weather and traffic alerts, tracking transport vehicles during all phases of transfer, maintaining current crew emergency documentation, and adhering to PIAP and safety protocols. Participate in professional development through adherence to departmental policies and procedures and attendance at required meetings. Perform additional duties as assigned in support of team safety, quality, and operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Transport Communication Specialist, or EMT, Paramedic, ERT, or Completion of a certified Medical Assisting program
  • 2–3 years of hospital or pre-hospital patient care experience (pediatric experience preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and adapt in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and organized while responding to emergency situations with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and ability to type approximately 30 words per minute.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with callers, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional tone to support quality, safety, and compassionate care.
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Frequent use of hearing acuity, vision, hand, wrist, and finger dexterity.
  • Continuous telephone and computer use requiring clear, articulate speech.
  • Exposure to a general office environment.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, reaching, and stretching above or below shoulder level.
