About The Position

CHOC Specialists is a private pediatric subspecialty group with 26 pediatric subspecialties, practicing at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), a premier healthcare system dedicated to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach, and research. This two-year research fellowship is offered with the Division of Pediatric General & Thoracic Surgery at CHOC and UC-Irvine. Research fellows will engage in a variety of studies, including basic science and translational projects, pediatric general surgery outcomes, and endeavors in trauma, fetal, quality, and health disparities. The division is academic, comprising 10 pediatric surgeons with a strong record of mentorship for trainees. CHOC is a high-volume, free-standing, rapidly growing children’s health system. The rate of pay is determined by various factors including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements.

Requirements

  • General surgery residents interested in pursuing a career in pediatric surgery.
  • Candidates who will have completed their PGY3 clinical training.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a wide range of studies, including basic science and translational projects, pediatric general surgery outcomes, and trauma, fetal, quality, and health disparities endeavors.
  • Participate in the call pool to maintain clinical proficiency and gain additional exposure.
