About The Position

The Department of Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained pediatric surgeon to join their team as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery. This individual will join five other surgeons in a busy academic practice at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH), a 242-bed children’s hospital that supports an ACGME approved pediatric surgery fellowship program. LLUCH is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with extensive facilities and sub-specialty support, serving a large and growing referral base of approximately 1.2 million children across one-fourth of California. The role requires a commitment to research and education, involving collaboration with medical students, surgical residents, and fellows. The division oversees a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program and a Pediatric Surgery Clinical Research Scholar Program. There is a funded basic science laboratory focused on necrotizing enterocolitis, and the group anticipates the opening of a fetal surgery center. Clinical practice emphasizes advanced minimal invasive neonatal and pediatric procedures, as well as robotic surgery. The department also covers all pediatric trauma as an EMCO center of excellence. Faculty with interests in global surgery can participate in global surgery offerings, including the Global Pediatric Specialist Alliance and the Center for Global Surgery. The Department of Surgery is committed to fostering the professional and academic growth of its faculty and trainees, aligning with the Loma Linda University mission to 'make people whole' and its vision to create global surgical leaders in whole person care, education, and research. Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, affiliated with Loma Linda University Health and School of Medicine, focuses on delivering whole person care with clinical excellence. The Troesh Medical Campus and new Children’s Hospital Specialty Clinic serve as a major tertiary referral destination for a population approaching 5 million. Loma Linda University Health integrates a faith-based approach to healthcare, following the ministry of Jesus Christ.
