About The Position

The Registered Diagnostic Sonographer performs ultrasound imaging for adult and/or pediatric patients to support diagnosis and treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. Imaging may include abdominal, small-parts, and obstetrical studies, and the role may also involve vascular imaging and assisting with needle procedures such as biopsies, drainages, and needle placements. The position is based at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, which provides inpatient and outpatient care and serves as an advocate for children. The schedule is four 10-hour day shifts per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on a two-week rotating schedule. Weekend and holiday requirements are limited, and there is no on-call requirement. Pediatric experience is not required.

Requirements

Associate degree or trade school equivalent.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent certification.
No prior experience required.
No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

Less than two years of experience.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

Ensure proper function and readiness of all equipment.
Perform ultrasound imaging examinations and ensure proper documentation of procedures.
Perform studies independently; work may include on-call studies, portable examinations, and work at other sites as required by the work area.
Assist with needle procedures, including biopsies, drainages, and needle placements.
May perform vascular imaging.
