About The Position

This is a 40 hour/week position divided between direct billable mental health and care coordination services. The role requires 3 onsite days per week: Monday at Spaulding Salem, Tuesday at Spaulding Boston, and Thursday at Spaulding Lexington. The social worker will work directly with pediatric patients (and their families) in the outpatient rehabilitation setting who are injured or disabled, ill, or newly diagnosed with a pediatric condition. These patients may experience life-altering changes in income, health insurance coverage, physical access to their environment, specialized transportation, and caregiver support. The goal is to maximize independent function in the community. The role involves collaborating across the continuum of care with interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams, community providers, and community agencies to promote the highest level of independent function and an active, productive, and fulfilling life. Responsibilities include directing and assisting patients and their families in the application process for federal, state, and private resources, and providing guidance to specialized community resources. The ideal candidate will be experienced in assessing and providing therapy to patients with diverse clinical conditions including anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, Autism, Attachment, trauma (PTSD), and developmental delay, often within the context of complex family systems and/or medical compromise. This is a grant-funded position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school or Master’s degree in mental health counseling
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Massachusetts: LMHC or LICSW
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel to pediatric outpatient sites across the Spaulding Network as necessary.
  • Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
  • Clinical Experience in an outpatient behavioral health setting 2-3 years required
  • Demonstrates proficient clinical judgment and application of professional values and ethics.
  • Integration of prior clinical experience into current practice.
  • Demonstrates proficiency to formulate assessment of risks, crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and the documentation of both in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and innovation in advocating for clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrates proficient working knowledge of internal and external resources and refers appropriately.
  • Provides a range of evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to advocate, coordinate, and continuously communicate with treatment plans with patients, family and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Incorporates social sensitivity.
  • If appropriate, utilizes supervision and consultation regularly and appropriately.
  • Actively seeks assistance with complex case s and situations in a timely manner.
  • Engages in quality improvement projects, uses data to measure progress.
  • Facilitate skill-based groups.
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to negotiate and work in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrate capacity to effectively communicate findings with a broader audience.
