The Pediatric Quality Coordinator (PQC) is responsible for implementing Pediatric Performance Improvement (P.I.) activities in the Emergency Department and throughout the continuum of care in the hospital. This role ensures and documents pediatric continuing education for all Emergency Department professional staff. The PQC works with ED Shift Coordinators and the ED Nursing Director to ensure compliance with documentation standards for pediatric continuing education. They collaborate with the multidisciplinary CQI committee to coordinate criteria-based reviews of selected pediatric ED visits, submitting written CQI reports and attending required EMS Region CQI subcommittee meetings. The PQC supports compliance with Facility Recognition Rules & Regulations from the Illinois Register and provides CQI information to the Illinois Department of Public Health upon request. Additionally, this role leads preparations for pediatric codes and other emergency preparedness activities, including planning, overseeing, and evaluating Pediatric Mock Codes quarterly and conducting pediatric decontamination drills annually.
