About The Position

The Pediatric Pulmonology team at Brenner Children’s is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (PA-C or Acute Care Certified Nurse Practitioner) to join our growing and collaborative team. This role provides comprehensive care for pediatric patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions across both inpatient and outpatient settings. The APP will practice with a high degree of autonomy while working in close collaboration with pediatric pulmonologists and an interdisciplinary care team. The position is structured to include: Three days per week supporting inpatient care for children admitted with acute respiratory needs. Two days per week supporting outpatient pulmonology clinics, including cystic fibrosis and general pulmonary care.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • BLS and PALS are required (for PA)
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care
  • BLS and PALS are required (for NP)

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience preferred but will consider new grads (for PA)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in a clinical setting.
  • Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
  • Collaborating with medical team when needed for effective team-based care.
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
  • Explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Performing procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
  • Potentially precepting students and/or medical learners.
  • Upholding AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment.
  • Performing other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
