Requirements

  • Licensed Certified Physical Therapist
  • Experience with pediatric patients

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments and interpretation of evaluations and test results.
  • Determine physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Carry out a treatment plan that supports functional improvement across the lifespan.
  • Administer manual exercises; instruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices.
  • Administer physical therapy treatment by applying physical agents, electrical stimulation, and directing treatments given by assistants and aids.
  • Evaluate the effects of physical therapy treatments and the fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers.
  • Design home exercise programs and instruct patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Recommend and/or provide assistive equipment and recommend outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect clinic operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensure the operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Develop physical therapy staff by providing information and developing and conducting in-service training programs.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the IEP team, providing services as part of a comprehensive education plan and in accordance with the written IEP.
