About The Position

Join Child Serve, Iowa's only pediatric specialty hospital, as a full-time Pediatric Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician and help shape the future of pediatric rehabilitation medicine. This is a unique opportunity to grow an expanding program while partnering with an experienced interdisciplinary team dedicated to helping children and young adults achieve their highest level of function, independence, and quality of life. You'll collaborate with physicians, pediatric psychologists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and a board-certified pediatric physiatrist to provide coordinated, family-centered care for children and young adults with complex medical, developmental, neurological, and rehabilitation needs. You'll also have the opportunity to develop services, strengthen referral relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of pediatric rehabilitation across Iowa.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)-accredited residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation, with additional clinical experience in pediatric rehabilitation medicine.
  • Certification or board eligible (with achievement of certification within 5 years) in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.

  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • Certification or board eligible (with achievement of certification within 5 years) in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine services, including clinical evaluations, intrathecal baclofen pump management, and botulinum toxin injections for tone management.
  • Collaborate with rehabilitation, complex care, primary care, and specialty providers to deliver comprehensive, family-centered care.
  • Support the development of multidisciplinary clinics and specialized programs.
  • Participate in the care of children undergoing intensive inpatient rehabilitation as a consultant and/or admitting physician.
  • Provide rehabilitation consultations for patients receiving subacute rehabilitation, complex medical care, and acute hospital services.
  • Partner closely with Child Serve's multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to optimize patient outcomes and functional independence.
  • Coordinate care across clinical disciplines to ensure seamless services for children and families.
  • Build and maintain relationships with referring providers and community partners.
  • Support care coordination, physician education, and ongoing program growth and development.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical practices, protocols, policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Champion Child Serve's Care Quality System and uphold the highest standards of pediatric rehabilitation care.
