About The Position

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, and public service. The physician is expected to actively participate in the education, research, patient care and administrative programs of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, with an emphasis on Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This appointee will be primarily a clinic focused position with a practice that emphasizes musculoskeletal care. The position actively participates in all aspects of the clinical care of patients as outlined by the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Board certified or eligible and planning on taking boards within the year in PM&R.
  • Strong desire to teach medical students.
  • Strong desire to participate in research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient diagnosis, management, and rehabilitative care in non-surgical clinics for patients with musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions and associated functional impairments.
  • Assess patient conditions, needs, and expectations to develop treatment plans that meet rehabilitation needs, potentially including therapies, medications, consultations, orthotics/prosthetics, pain modalities, injections, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and diagnostic evaluations including electrodiagnostic studies.
  • Participate in general acute inpatient rehabilitation initial consultations.
  • Teach trainees and support staff in the area of professional expertise through assigned lectures and by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, and guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility.
  • May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of complex rehabilitation needs after a diagnosis of cancer.
  • May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair.
  • May participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair.
  • Participate in Departmental management and serve on institutional committees.
